OPC (proanthocyanidins) (Active ingredient)

OPC (proanthocyanidins)
OPCs (“proanthocyanidins” or “oligo-proanthocyanidins”) are part of the chemical family of polyphenols, and more precisely of the class of flavonoids.

OPCs exhibit antioxidant properties 20 to 50 times greater than those of vitamins C and E. In addition, unlike the latter, OPCs are soluble (and therefore capable of neutralizing free radicals) both in aqueous and lipid medium.

OPCs are found in many plants but food generally provides us with relatively little because they are located in the husks of fruits and vegetables (parts that are generally removed during food preparation).

Grape seeds and maritime pine bark are particularly rich in OPC and currently represent the two essential sources from which these polyphenols are extracted.

OPCs are particularly beneficial for the cardiovascular system because they help protect and consolidate the constituents of the vessel wall, thus contributing to better venous circulation.
